living in Northeastern Ohio.

The
Sumner Name
Since 1911, the name
of Sumner has been synonymous with the best in retirement
living. We are a non-profit, non-denominational organization that provides high quality services to
residents, their families and others in Northeastern Ohio. These services,
sustained by a community of caring professionals and volunteers, are offered in
unique, gracious surroundings to ensure the security, comfort and dignity of
those served. Aware of Sumner's long tradition of quality and service, we are
committed to meeting the changing needs of seniors in our community and to
serving as a partner with other area health, education and support services in
this field.

Sumner on
Ridgewood
Remaining true to our heritage, the design of
Sumner on Ridgewood emulates
the Merriman estate, including its historic grandeur and immense front lawn.
Variety and interest are created with a neighborhood approach that includes Eden
Villas, Garden Apartments and bungalow-style Catered Living.
A distinctive Manor House stands at the
center of the Ridgewood Community and features the Terrace
Room Restaurant, the Deli on Ridgewood, a Pub, Private
Dining Room, Market Shoppe,
Salon, Meditation Room, Library, Fitness Center, Swimming Pool, Wellness Clinic
and Music Conservatory Area.
The Eden Villas,
provided for Independent Living, are beautiful, private homes situated on quiet
cul-de-sacs. These homes feature spacious interiors, amenities and
state-of-the-art security.
The Garden Apartments,
located adjacent to the Manor House, also offer Independent Living. Programs are
developed and managed by the residents and are easily accessible to encourage
participation.
The structures
that distinguish Sumner on Ridgewood are our four innovative Catered Living
buildings. They are the signature design of the Sumner on Ridgewood philosophy,
and provide Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing. The design conveys
consideration for dignity and privacy. A "center hall" floor plan features a
foyer, parlor, living room and dining room interconnected to a courtyard with
garden views. The large residential suites are accessed from private hallways,
much in the same fashion as bedrooms are accessed in a house. The private suites
include sitting areas, kitchenettes and personal bathrooms. The kitchen is the
center of the care activity with only a simple, unobtrusive desk serving as the
"nursing station." No medication carts, reception desk or station interrupt the
residential flow of the Catered Living buildings.
It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. So take a visual trip to
Sumner on Ridgewood here.

The Sumner
Foundation
As a not-for-profit, tax-exempt
organization, The Sumner Foundation oversees the
investment of gifts to the endowment that supports the
mission of Sumner on Ridgewood. The
Sumner organization has been able to offer quality programs
and services because of the generosity of past residents and their families who have shown their appreciation for the
tradition of excellence in caring through bequests and major gifts.
